History

The mission of Los Barrios Unidos Community Clinic (LBUCC) is to welcome all and improve quality of life through excellence in accessible, affordable healthcare.

The vision of Los Barrios Unidos Community Clinic (LBUCC) is to be the preferred choice for patients, health care providers and employees

In 1972, the residents of several West Dallas neighborhoods united to open a community clinic in a portable building to serve a population disenfranchised from the economic and social services of the city due primarily to language and cultural differences.

Los Barrios Unidos Community Clinic (LBUCC) has flourished tremendously since its opening. Ninety-three percent of LBUCC’s 26,000 patients are Hispanic and 70% are uninsured. Nearly 30 clinicians provide 68,000 patient visits each year. Patients are drawn from all parts of Dallas County although West Dallas, Oak Cliff and Grand Prairie are the core market areas. LBUCC proudly provides top-notch care to all people regardless of race, ethnicity, place of residence or even the ability to pay.

Today, LBUCC boasts over 50,000 square feet of clinic space on the West Dallas campus and a satellite clinic in Grand Prairie, Texas, the Grand Prairie Community Health Center. LBUCC provides culturally competent primary care services that include pediatrics, prenatal care, adult care, mental health care, dental care for children, WIC services and other supportive services.

LBUCC has been fully accredited by The Joint Commission since 1998. To achieve this accreditation, clinic outcomes are systematically monitored and licensed physicians, dentists and nurses are formally credentialed and granted clinical privileges.

LBUCC has gained a great deal of experience after 40 years of serving the community and continues to respond to the community’s changing needs.
